Why is it that I can’t sleep when I’ve got work at 8 in the morning then when I’m off the next day I’m out like a light. Two more days then I’m off for 2 weeks. Fuckin’ YES! Bring it on ya little beaut.
On Monday 23rd June 2014 my Grandad ended his fight with cancer. He had fought for 10 years and couldn’t fight any longer. Obviously we are all sad and we will miss him terribly but I feel a sense of pride. This wonderful, strong and compassionate man was my Grandad. He made me who I am today and I am exactly like him in every way. He loved with all his heart. He touched the lives of everyone he met and such simple things in life made him happy. He never cared much for money and would give a stranger his last penny if they asked.
Nana and him have been my reason to carry on in the darkest times in my life and I am eternally indebted to them.
Thank you to everyone who donated when I shaved my head to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Hospital. I’ll be doing something else in the near future to raise money for Ashgate Hospice where Grandad used to go on Tuesdays to paint and spend time with other people going through the same battle. My Dads beautiful fiance also spent her last days there and they were brilliant with the family.
The people who work in these places inspire me to be a better person.
I’d also like to thank all the nurses at Chesterfield Royal Hospital who worked on Grandad’s ward and made his last days comfortable and looked after us all whilst we were there.
Rest in peace Grandad. I love you xxxx
We went to see You’re Next at the cinema last night and it was so good! Until the end that is.
The beginning horrified me as you’re led to believe its just your standard home invasion movie where an innocent family is tortured and killed in their own home and those films really creep me out! So it was a refreshing twist when the girl who turns out to be the main character started to fight back.
I love a bad ass girl in a horror movie, probably because most horror films portray women as the weak ones who get picked off first. So you can imagine my joy, (more so my relief) when Erin started kicking ass. It turns out she grew up in a survivalist camp.
She continues to kick ass all the way through the film even when she finds out that the whole night was a conspiracy for one of the brothers to kill off his parents and inherit their fortune. She solves this problem by killing the brother and his girlfriend. As you would.
However, at the very last minute when you think she’s made it the dead brother’s phone starts ringing and its her boyfriend who left the house to get help earlier in the night. He ultimately confesses that he was in on it, not knowing it’s Erin on the other end of the phone. Awkward! So he comes back in to the house to find her still alive holding his brothers phone in one hand with a knife in the other. To cut a long story short he tries to blag her and she stabs him in the neck. Good girl!
So all is well and she’s survived. Then BAM, she gets shot in the shoulder by the police. What a shit ending! It’s like they didn’t know how to end it so they thought, “Fuck it shoot her, the end.” I mean paying £17 for a hot dog and nachos was bad enough but then for the film to end like that! This is just not acceptable guys. I demand a sequel right now!
Today I saw a comment on one of myignorantyouth's instagram posts about Macklemore's video for 'Same Love' and it really annoyed me.
Kate was saying how the video was cute and this is a segment from one of the comments that followed, ‘…making money off of the LGBT community as a straight guy isn’t something to be praised for though…’
(I would like to highlight the fact that I am not picking on the girl who wrote this comment and I understand everyone has their own opinions).
I hadn’t actually seen the video before I saw this and it was the comment alone that caught my attention.
The commenter was basically saying that someone who identifies as straight can’t release a song about gay rights.
To me a straight person releasing a song about gay rights means more than a member of the LGBT community releasing a song about gay rights. Isn’t that what we’re fighting for? Acceptance and equality from the ‘straight people.’ I really do feel like if we stopped separating ourselves from the rest of the world then we’d be more likely to succeed. Shouldn’t we give straight people who stand up for OUR rights and risk being ridiculed by the haters a pat on the back? If everyone was a little more like that then there would be no homophobia at all.
If all that isn’t enough to prove my point then here are some facts about the song and Macklemore:
